American born Chinese frame analysis

I chose the collection of frames when the monkey king first encounters tze-yo-tzuh, the creator of everything.  This is directly after the monkey king had visited the many gods and beat them up to prove to them that he is more than just a silly monkey.  In the first frame the monkey king is beating up a lady, who is most likely another god. He stands over her and behind her indicating that he has great power over her.  This makes sense considering the monkey king has been trying for the entire story to improve his power so that he will be considered equal to the gods,  in the second frame, Tze-yo-tzuh speaks to the monkey, but he does not look away yet.  His eyes are focused on the lady he is beating up, and his teeth are grinding together.  He is blinded by anger in their moment. In the third frame he turns around and witnesses Tze-yo-tzuh standing over him.  He is almost double the monkey king's size indicating how much power he has over him....

Hiding in plain sight This scene conveys how vulnerable Walter is in his position at the insurance firm.  He is surrounded by people unknowingly trying to catch him, ultimately leading to his downfall. Keys unknowingly smiles at Walter, conveying that in this moment he trusts him.  The man from the train looks at keys, completely ignoring Walter, showing his ignorance to the fact that Walter was actually the man he saw on the train. Walter stands behind both men, hand covering his mouth.  He doesn’t look at either of the men in the room, at this moment he is fully aware that the man from the train could recognize him at any moment.  Although Walter is in the corner, he is extremely illuminated.  This is to convey that no matter where he goes or what, he will not be able to hide.

Minority Report Still Frame Analysis Alex PIgott Speilberg set up this scene with the intention of illustrating the intensity of Anderton and Witwers rivalry throughout the movie.  Anderton and Witwer are the most illuminated objects in the frame.  They both stare directly at each other, both with a little bit of a smirk showing that they both hold the confidence that they will get their way over the other.  The framing of this scene is interesting, as there is no clear focal point.  Anderton occupies the left side, and Witwer occupies the right.  There is nothing distinctive on either side to grab the viewer's eye, leaving each side competing for the viewers attention. It's almost as if Anderton and Witwer are the ones competing for the eye of the viewer. Witwer and Anderton, although they are not the same height, are pictured at exactly the same level.  This is done to show that at this point neither Anderton, nor Witwer has an advantage over the o...
