Double indemnity frame analysis
Hiding in plain sight
This scene conveys how vulnerable Walter is in his position at the insurance firm. He is surrounded by people unknowingly trying to catch him, ultimately leading to his downfall.
Keys unknowingly smiles at Walter, conveying that in this moment he trusts him. The man from the train looks at keys, completely ignoring Walter, showing his ignorance to the fact that Walter was actually the man he saw on the train. Walter stands behind both men, hand covering his mouth. He doesn’t look at either of the men in the room, at this moment he is fully aware that the man from the train could recognize him at any moment. Although Walter is in the corner, he is extremely illuminated. This is to convey that no matter where he goes or what, he will not be able to hide.
